Explore the Small Isles

Clanranald Cottage is on the the most populated of the Small Isles and is the ideal base for exploring the Islands of Rum and Muck. Rum, one of the stars of the BBC Series “Autumn Watch” is a National Nature Reserve. When on Rum you must visit Kinloch Castle, built as a grand hunting lodge in 1897, and the first private dwelling in the UK to have electricity. Journey time to Rum on the loch Nevis or Sheerwater is 1 hour. Muck is only 30 minutes away on the MV Loch Nevis or Sheerwater. You can enjoy a day trip during the summer months and visit the farmers market, the excellent trearoom or the craft shop.

The seas around Eigg populated by many species, including Minke and Killer Whales, Dlophins, Porpoises and Seals. See the Golden Eagles, Buzzards and Hen Harriers plus a huge variety of wading birds.
